Testimonials

Just dropping a note to tell you how gorgeous (and great to work with) theme you have here. I just purchased it and am lovin’ it!! The documentation is also very well written! Kudos! Keep up the awesome work! Can’t wait to see what comes next.

-Sibila

Great theme! I purchased this theme and 2winFactor was incredibly helpful with troubleshooting some issues I was having w/ intergrating 3rd party plugins. The theme is very flexible, and translates beautifully on many platforms. Great work and thank you for your really quick technical support help!

-Urbandog

I’ve commented about a question I had a few days ago. It ended up being a problem that was unrelated to the theme. 2winFactor STILL helped me and we got it figured out. This is some of the best technical support I’ve ever received… and I work for Apple.

-JustinMerm

I’m impressed by how on the comments page you seem to get back to everyone right away. How do you do that with so many people? You put tech support teams on other template sites to shame. They often take days and have several people.

    Hi, just purchased your theme and I had a quick question. All my posts are showing up in a blog format. Is there an easy way to import all posts to my portfolio? Also, I manually copy/pasted two posts onto the portfolio tab, and when I clicked "view post," it directed me to "Page not Found." How do I view posts in portfolio rather than blog view? Thanks so much, David

    Hi Revoluzik- Are you looking to port all your blog posts to portfolio items? You may be able to use a plugin for that: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/convert-post-types/ Also, be sure you've set up the site correctly according to the documentation. If you're still having issues, just let me know and I'll take a look. Andre

    Hi Andre, First of all, thanks for the wonderful theme. I was just wondering how to modify the default size of the lightbox, I would like to have 720p videos fetch from youtube? Cheers,

    Hi Hank, The controls for the default size are in custom.js.php in the lightbox section. You'll just need to change the values of the default width and height of the lightbox:

    default_width: 500,
    default_height: 344,

    Cheers, Andre

    Hi Andre Very impressed with your theme and level of support on here! Wanted to know how I can make the background image stretch to 100%? No tiling. Also - is there any type of search feature in these comments? Many thanks!

    Hi Beez, Thanks! Yes, it's possible, but not cross-browser compatable, since that option is only available for CSS3 browsers. One way around this is to make the background image large enough to accommodate most browser windows. If you're interested in using the css3 background image property, just navigate to Appearance > Theme Options > Customize and enter this into the custom css box:

    body {
         background-size: 100%;
    }

    That should stretch whatever background image you uploaded into the background options stretch to 100% in modern browsers. Andre

    Hey buddy, Great theme - bought it as soon as I saw it and messed with it a little. I have a question... Is there a way to put a active state on the nav items e.g. when you hover on a nav item it's state changes but when you are at the url you click to there is no indication to tell a visitor of your site where you are. So a visitor comes to my site, click on illustration, go to illustration grouping, click on one of the illustration items but there is no indication apart from the post footer that you are in illustration area. I'd like to be able to illustrate to the visitor to my site what area they are in and possibly be able to change the styling of it myself. You can view my site here: http://www.pixelspencil.com

    Hi Youngie, Yes, there is. You just need to add a little custom css. Navigate to Appearance > Theme Options > Customize. Enter the following into the custom css box:

    .sf-menu li.current-menu-item a {
    color:#ff0000;
    }

    Of course, you'll want to change the hideous red color here to something that better matches your site :) Let me know if you have any other questions. Andre

    Hi there Andre, Thanks so much for all your wonderful help! I managed to get the pages added by using skills and the menu page. I appreciate your time! One last question, is there a way not have all the portfolio items all show on the homepage. I just want to have a few recent projects on the homepage and then have a load of projects broken down on the other pages. Kinda defeats the purpose of breaking them down into sections when they are all on the homepage anyway. There almost needs to be a way to make one of the skills pages the home page. It would be great if you could go into 'settings' and 'reading' and make a skills page a front page. Let me know if this is possible. Thanks again Lauren

    Hi Lauren, Yes there is, however, you'll need to make a minor modification to the template-home.php file. You can access it via Appearance > Editor. I would suggest adding skill that you can set for portfolio items you want for the homepage. Then in template-home.php you’ll want to just change the query line slightly. Instead of:

    $loop = new WP_Query( array( 'post_type' => 'portfolio', 'posts_per_page' => 30 ) );

    to this:
    $loop = new WP_Query( array( 'post_type' => 'portfolio', 'skills'=>'genericskillname', 'posts_per_page' => 30 ) );

    Then give all of your items that ‘genericskillname’ except the ones you don’t want on the homepage. Let me know if you need additional help. Andre

    Hello there, just asking the same question as Alex really. I purchased the theme a few days ago so you are good to help me. I can get the portfolio items working fine on my homepage. They look great! But I want to create other pages showing different portfolio items to what are on my homepage. When I do add more pages they all have the same portfolio items as the homepage. I cant seem to find anywhere how to assign which portfolio items appear on which page. It this what skills is all about. Thanks loads! Lauren

    Hi Lauren, When you add "skills" to the menu the link automatically creates a page for you, so you don't need to create any pages. Go to Appearance > Menus. In the upper right hand corner, select "screen options". Check the skills box. Once you have checked off “skills” then skills will show up as an option on the left hand side of the Menus page. Simply click off the SKILLS you want and then ADD TO MENU. Don't forget to save the menu. When you click on the link on your page, the Theme automatically creates that page for you. Let me know if you run into any issues, Andre

    Hi Eric, It appears as though you're installing the theme incorrectly. Be sure you're unzipping the downloaded file from Themeforest first to your computer. Inside you should see a zip file called "bookcase.zip". In your wordpress admin panel, navigate to Appearance > Themes. Then click the "Install Themes" tab at the top, then click upload. Find the file "bookcase.zip" within the extracted Themeforest download. Can you verify that you are installing the theme this way? Thanks, Andre

    Very cool theme! I had to buy it. However... I have a big issue. There is no place to upload the slideshow images within my portfolio items page . It seems my portfolio items page only has a place to add a "feature image"...but no place to add the slides. ?????? I searched the whole page for it. (scrolled all the way down). Its not there. Am I missing something? Please advise.

    Hi there, I have recently purchased the bookcase theme and all seems to be going pretty good....except one concern..... In the "Live Demo" version you have on themeforest there is a Page called "Services" with a drop down menu of "services" that link to portfolio style pages where one could see examples. I can't seem to figure out how you did this because when I add a new page there is no "slideshow" uploading area like there is in the portfolio section. How would I create a Page with a drop down menu of services that display with the exact same slideshow as the portfolio (when you select an item from the dropdown) ?? Thanks!

    Hello Andre! First, i want to congratulate you - like hundreds have already done - to this really awesome & clean Theme!! And to your very nice Support, which also was a reason why I purchased this theme. But like the others, I also have a little ssue. :) When I set up a Portfolio-Page it only shows me a blank box with the Loading-Animation in it. It just keeps loading and loading and loading, but nothing happens. looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/GRkTS.png The Firefox error console shows following errors: Error1 http://i.imgur.com/HIktq.png Error2 http://i.imgur.com/bPs7O.png A friend of mine (with (a little bit) more knowledge in stuff like this) guessed that it may have something to do with the Database and that the second error could be history, if we can fix the first one. The featured picture & 2 slideshow pictures are all wider then 500px What do you think could be the problem & do you have solution?? It would be great if we could solve this problem :) Thanks in advance for your help & time!!!

    Hi ilovecolors, It looks like you may have a JavaScript conflict with an activated plugin. The error you have is from a different version of JavaScript. Some plugins are poorly written and do not register their JavaScript with wordpress to avoid conflicts, which is why I'm seeing the error in the JavaScript version that is directly linked from another site (also not best practice). Try disabling all plugins and see if that solves the problem. Then activate each one individually to pinpoint the problematic one. Let me know if that solves the issue, Andre

    Oh yes, it was another plugin, more precisely the "WP e-Commerce" plug in from "getshopped", which was necessary for the website. Just asking - since your the internet-wizard :) - do you know/recommend another good e-Commerce solution for WP? Due to changed circumstances we need a new one ;) Thanks for your Support, Andre! I'm afraid I don't know of many, I would just be picking from a hat. It's possible, however to only have the e-commerce plugin active on any page that's not the homepage if you're set on using that. You'd need to alter the plugin files if it doesn't have any options, but it would just be adding a a Otherwise I would look around for other solutions. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Andre

    Hi Damien, It looks like your slideshow images aren't properly inserted into your portfolio post. On your portfolio page, be sure you're clicking "browse" for the slide images, selecting the image you want and selecting "insert into post" to make your selection. Simply pasting a url won't properly attach the image to the post. That should ensure that the image is properly attached to the post and the url is referenced correctly. If you're still having issues, just let me know. Andre

    Hi Klubok, You’ll need to modify the homepage template a bit. Wordpress automatically creates pages for specific skills, but you cannot have control over showing only certain posts on the homepage. (annoying, I know). I would suggest adding skill that you can set for portfolio items you want for the homepage. Then in template-home.php you’ll want to just change the query line slightly. Instead of:

    Hi Ornonza, It's located in yoursite/wp-content/themes/bookcase/images . Right there in the folder. It's possible if you're looking at this locally you might just need to "get" the image from the remote server. 1. Appearance > Theme Options > Customize. Enter this into the custom css box:

    .intro h1 {
    font-size:22px;
    }

    2. Are you talking about in the contact page? You can just open up template-contact.php and change "Send Message" to whatever you like. Andre
